Effective theories and ineffective interpretations

The example of effective theories is a promising, and potentially transformative, resource for the scientific realism debate. Other participants in the symposium extract from the terrain of effective theories resources for the would-be realist. I’ll try to survey the same terrain for resources to resist realisms, even realisms transformed by consideration of effective theories. The goal of this survey is not to establish a dominant position but to get a sense of a range of positions, as well as considerations for and against them.
